First ever World Cup Upset - New Zealand def India

The winner had a semi final birth that awaited them, and the loser was going home. The other 9 group matches had all gone to script, the West Indies were winning, Australia were in the semi finals, and England had not been beaten. The final part of the script was for India to join the other big three in the semi finals of the first ever World Cup.

India's start was poor, but a score of 230 would have been an achievement given they were at 6/101.

New Zealand's hero would be captain Glenn Turner. He would steer his side to a 4 wicket win thanks to a score of 114 not out.

The win would help New Zealand to a semi final birth, their first of 7 semi final births.
